& Health Ministries Network assists congregations, health
institutions, nurses and lay people of all faiths in
developing and maintaining effective parish nurse and health
ministry programs. Established in 1994, this community-based
network serves as a resource and provides ongoing consultation,
education and peer support throughout Arizona to promote health in
mind, body, and spirit. |

is a Parish Nurse? |

nurses focus on the whole person to emphasize wellness, health promotion and

What
is a Health Ministry? |
| |
| A
health ministry combines the skills of both health professionals and lay
individuals to promote "whole person health" and provide emotional and
spiritual support for the members of a congregation and the surrounding
community. The parish nurse plays an integral role in the health ministry
by either directing its members or offering information necessary to build a
strong team and program responsive to parishioner needs. |
