Welcome to Beatitudes Center DOAR
Beatitudes Center DOAR is a non-profit organization — partnered with more than 150 congregations of various faiths — serving homebound elders and their caregivers, adults with disabilities, grandparents raising grandchildren, and faith communities promoting health and well-being. Each year, we serve more than 17,000 people, providing more than 44,000 hours of volunteer service and more than 175,000 person-to-person contacts to promote health.
Beatitudes Center DOAR helps:
- Homebound elders and adults with disabilities. To maximize the independence of these individuals, we train, supervise, and insure volunteers who can help them with grocery shopping, paper work, mail reading, computer training, rides to the doctor, minor repairs, and companionship. *
- Family caregivers. To support family caregivers and grandparents raising grandchildren, we provide respite care, support groups, books and videos, seminars, fun outings, legal assistance, community referrals, and emergency funds.*
- Faith communities (e.g., churches, synagogues, mosques). To support our partnered congregations, we provide training for their members (and others) who wish to serve elders and adults with disabilities. We also help congregations develop parish/faith community nurse programs and wellness programs that promote health in body, mind, and spirit.
* Free services
Center DOAR coordinates the following innovative programs:
