Welcome to Beatitudes Center DOAR

Beatitudes Center DOAR is a non-profit organization — partnered with more than 150 congregations of various faiths — serving homebound elders and their caregivers, adults with disabilities, grandparents raising grandchildren, and faith communities promoting health and well-being.
Each year, we serve more than 17,000 people, providing more than 44,000 hours of volunteer service and more than 175,000 person-to-person contacts to promote health.

Beatitudes Center DOAR helps:

  • Homebound elders and adults with disabilities. To maximize the independence of these individuals, we train, supervise, and insure volunteers who can help them with grocery shopping, paper work, mail reading, computer training, rides to the doctor, minor repairs, and companionship. *

  • Family caregivers. To support family caregivers and grandparents raising grandchildren, we provide respite care, support groups, books and videos, seminars, fun outings, legal assistance, community referrals, and emergency funds.*

  • Faith communities (e.g., churches, synagogues, mosques). To support our partnered congregations, we provide training for their members (and others) who wish to serve elders and adults with disabilities. We also help congregations develop parish/faith community nurse programs and wellness programs that promote health in body, mind, and spirit.

* Free services

Center DOAR coordinates the following innovative programs:

VICaP Faith in Action: helps homebound or disabled adults through free in-home services provided by caring volunteers.

Project GrandCare serves the growing number of grandparents raising grandchildren.

Generations provides personalized help for caregivers of the elderly.

The Nurse & Health Ministries Network helps individuals and faith communities explore, initiate, and maintain parish/faith community nurse and health ministries programs.

The Flinn Learning Resources Center loans books and videos on aging, caregiving, and parish nursing.

How you can help...

...As a volunteer. Whether or not you are a member of one of our partner congregations, you can serve as a volunteer through our VICaP Faith in Action program. You will be matched to help a homebound elder or disabled adult on a schedule that fits your needs. Click here to see the orientation schedule. Register online, by email to vicap@centerdoar.org or call 602-285-0543.

...As a donor. Center DOAR is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. So all contributions — including volunteers’ mileage — are tax deductible. There is also a dollar-for-dollar write-off option on your Arizona income tax and two fundraising events — “Jazz Cabaret“ (in the spring), and “Poinsettia Tea“ (in December). Click here to find out more ways you can support Center DOAR

Help us make a difference!

Many fun and rewarding volunteer opportunities await you.
